Plot Summary:
Anna is living a great life in Atlanta when her father decides to send her to boarding school in Paris during her senior year. She becomes best friends with Etienne St. Clair, but can’t have a crush on him because he has a girlfriend. The more time they spend together, the closer they get but they have to fight the temptation.
Critical Analysis:
Anna and the French Kiss is an adorable story that is filled with romance and cuteness overload. If you are writing a romance story, the best place to have the story take place is of course Paris. All of the characters are filled with different personalities and there wasn’t a character that I didn’t like. The story doesn’t have any plot twists or cliff hangers, but it is a feel good book that will keep you reading. In a Kirkus Review, it was stated that Perkins “gracefully combines love and realism,” which I couldn’t agree with more. The setting may not be something that everyone can relate to but the love story of falling for someone that is already with someone else is very real especially for young adults.
